Custom Beer Bottle Labels Specs

Our beer label maker allows us to print high-quality graphics on your beer labels. High-contrast black and whites are available as well as vivid colors that won’t fade! We can even work with you to create several seasonal designs in year-appropriate colors!

Here are the sizes of some of our more common beer stickers to help you determine the best fit (no pun intended):

Full Wraps

Full wrap labels are the most common option for standard beer bottles. These labels are 3.125″ x 7.375″, meaning they wrap comfortably around 12 oz glass bottles. Also, wrapping them around 220z bomber bottles or standard wine bottles will only leave a slight gap.

Volo Custom Wine Labels

Volo wine labels are useful for all wine bottles as well as larger beer bottles and growlers. These tags are 3″ x 4.25″, creating a “portrait” style label for the front of a bottle. While volo labels are excellent for showcasing a logo, as well as varieties of brews, these labels typically aren’t used for any bottled beers that require nutrition facts or ingredient information on the back. You may not want to choose this template for craft beer labels.

Front & Back Labels

Our front and back beer stickers are incredibly versatile. The front label will display name, brand, and logo as well as the type of brew. The custom back label can display nutrition information, brand story or any details about your beer that you desire!

You can also order just a front label. At 2.5″ x 3.5″, our square label sizes fit perfectly on a beer can!

Our front and back labels are currently available in the following shapes:

  • Square Labels (available in portrait or landscape)
    • 2.5″ x 3.5″ Square Label- These smaller square labels can be printed in either portrait or landscape, and work best for standard 12oz bottles or beer cans.
    • 3.5″ x 4″ Square Label- These larger labels are perfect for larger bottles, such as a 22oz Bomber.
  • Oval Labels
    • 3.5 x 4″- Oval labels are versatile for many beer label designs. These are excellent for bombers and tall 12 oz bottles.

Necker beer stickers wrap around the bottleneck. These typically display brand names and are paired with front and back labels on most brews. Bottleneck stickers are 3.25″ x 1.25″ and wrap around the neck of every beer bottle size, although they may not make it all the way around.

Keep in mind that you can always reach out to our sales reps to determine the beer sticker that will best suit your needs. If you clue us in on what bottles you’re using as well as how many custom beer labels you need, we can help determine what will work best. Bottle Caps

We can also create custom-printed bottle caps. Why stop at your own design on the label? In fact, we can include your logo, monogram or other characters on the bottle cap of your creation with ease.

How are the beer labels printed?

Although beer labels can comfortably in-house, it’s often much more accessible to outsource it to a professional printer who can easily print thousands of stickers easily. The process begins with deciding precisely what size sticker you need. Then, you can either use an easy template in size provided to upload your own beer label or work with a graphic designer to create a custom sticker. Then, you’ll decide how many you need, and your customized beer labels will be sent to print!

What information should I include on my beer labels?

When creating labels for your homebrew, you should include most or all of the following information:

  • The name of your beer
  • The type of beer it is
  • Keywords to describe the flavor profile
  • Bottling date
  • Alcoholic Content
  • Company information

Who approves beer labels?

The Alchohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) is the governing body that approves alcohol labels. They also govern claims on beer labels to ensure that the contents are not misleading or harmful to consumers. A comprehensive list of the requirements and approval processes for custom beer labels are here.

What size beer label do I need?

The size of the sticker that will work best for your product depends on the size of a beer bottle you intend to label. There are a few standard sizes of containers that will influence your decision:

  • 12oz short bottle– These beer bottles are stout but have a lower volume, meaning that most standard label options will fit comfortably.
  • 12 oz tall bottle– Long and thin, standard wrap labels fit easily around these 12 oz beer bottles. Most standard size stickers fit as well, although the larger square options may dwarf these bottles.
  • 16 oz Grolsch (also called a Swing Top) – Standard labels also fit well on these bottles, although a full wrap will leave a gap under an inch wide between ends.
  • 22 oz Bomber- Larger front and back labels are advisable on these much bigger beer bottles. Standard wraps will not close all the way around and may look narrow on the vast body of the container.
  • Growler– A standard wrap will only run across the front of this bottle, making it inadvisable. A large square front label accompanied by a necker look best on these bottles.

What paper is best for beer labels?

Choosing the paper that you use for your labels makes a difference. Glossy paper often makes the ink more prone to run during condensation or refrigeration. Matte paper will hold onto the ink much more easily. It’s also important to select the appropriate type of ink whether printing at home or choosing a commercial printer. Laser ink resists running when wet, but regular printer ink smudges easily in the same conditions.

How do I remove labels from beer bottles?

Removing labels from beer bottles is easy. To begin, we recommend doing large batches at a time to keep the process efficient. Then, gather as many beer bottles as you need to remove the labels. Submerge them in a large container or bucket filled with water and add dish soap. Allow the jars to soak for 24 hours, and the tags will practically fall off. Finally, you can lightly scrub each bottle, dry them and reuse for another batch. Now that’s what we call recycling.
