What is Dibond?
Dibond is a rigid, durable aluminum composite material consisting of two thin sheets of .012-inch thick aluminum bonded to a solid polyethylene core (plastic) – a unique composition that makes it approximately half the weight of raw aluminum. Dibond, the flattest panel on the market, offers a superior surface for direct digital printing as well as mounting graphics. Dibond provides excellent durability in outdoor applications and won’t bow or warp. Dibond is available in 12 standard colors, including six metallic shades. Dibond is stocked in sheet sizes ranging from 48-by-96 inches to 60-by-120-inches and in thicknesses ranging from 2mm to 4mm.)
The versatility of Dibond signs:
Dibond panels are used by fine art galleries and framing businesses the world over, Dibond printing provides richly saturated images. If you decide to go with color, we print with waterproof UV resistant inks that remain impervious to all environments both indoors and outdoors. This is most popular material for custom outdoor signs.
We have an in-house CNC router that can cut Dibond to any shape, eliminating the pain of getting custom metal signs cut. Combine that with Dibond’s moisture and heat resistance, and you have one hardy sign that works equally well indoors as it does out. Printable on both sides, Dibond makes durable outdoor directional signage. Whether you’re looking for a substrate for an outdoor wayfinding system, modern Dibond signs, or the best way to make sure your fine art prints stand the test of time, Dibond printing may be the answer you’re looking for.

Dibond Signage FAQ
What is Dibond?
We get the question all the time, what is Dibond? Dibond is a sign material that takes 2 sheets of aluminum and sandwiches a plastic core in between them. This creates a terrific indoor and outdoor sign panel that is great for any use and is much stronger than Correx board or any other sign material. If you want to order Dibond signs online, we will double check all artwork to make sure your prints are perfect!
Why are custom Dibond signs good for use as outdoor signs?
Dibond panels are our favorite material for custom outdoor signs. The aluminum Dibond is much less expensive to produce than traditional custom aluminum signs. Dibond signage is also much lighter in weight than aluminum signs. Dibond material can cost under half the price of almost any other aluminum signs. Dibond sign board is extremely durable compared to PVC signs.
How do you print Dibond sheeting?
The old way to produce aluminum Dibond signs is to order precut aluminum sign blanks then use vinyl cutters to make big stickers that you apply to the aluminum signage sign panel. Then several years ago people started screen printing Dibond aluminum as a faster and less expensive way to produce outdoor signage. Over the last 5 years, UV digital printing flatbed technology has allowed us to print artwork directly to the aluminum Dibond in less than 5 minutes per sheet. We can also now cut the aluminum Dibond to any three-dimensional shapes.
How do you cut Dibond?
Cutting Dibond is much easier than cutting any gauge aluminum. When you custom cut Dibond, we take 4×8 Dibond sheets and cut them on our 5×10 oversized router. Due to the plastic core that Dibond has, cutting the sign material is very simple. a 4×8 Dibond aluminum signage sheet with a 1/4″ thickness can be cut down to custom aluminum signs in less than 10 minutes. We can cut the aluminum sheets to any three-dimensional shapes.
How long does Dibond aluminium last?
Dibond aluminium should last at least 10 years. The aluminium Dibond photo print may not last as long depending on the direct sunlight that your sign material gets. Custom Dibond signs should not fade for at least 3 years. Due to the plastic core, Dibond sign material is an extremely durable metal product.
What is the biggest size that I can order a Dibond sheet?
We stock and can ship a Dibond sheet as large as 10×5 feet. The standard size of a Dibond sheet is 4×8. If you need custom sized dibond signs, just let us know the sheet size you need!
Dibond vs. Diabond vs Diebond vs Di Bond
The correct spelling is Dibond. Diabond is an incorrect spelling. Diebond is an incorrect spelling. Die Bond is an incorrect spelling.
What are the ranges of Dibond pricing?
Dibond pricing can vary depending on the finish, size, print, and thickness. The least expensive Dibond pricing is .040 thickness and a white finish. The most expensive Dibond price is gold Dibond. The most expensive thickness is 3mm Dibond. Dibond aluminum signs are available up to .5″ thicknesses. When comparing Dibond signs prices, make sure it is not fake Dibond.
How do I save Dibond artwork?
You should save the artwork for your Dibond signs as a .pdf at 300 dpi. We recommend using Adobe Photoshop for all sign printers. If you want your signs printed with a photo, make sure the photo is high resolution so the Dibond board prints correctly. If you want custom cut Dibond, please include the die cut line on a separate layer in the color pink.
Are there any Dibond alternatives?
While Dibond is the name of a company, the product is technically an aluminum composite panel. There are several other companies out there that produce aluminum composite panels for much less expensive. Some other brands can produce aluminum composite for much less because they use a low-grade aluminum. While we recommend some of these immersive engineering steel sheets for short-term sign applications, we recommend using the official Dibond product for most project.
What are the best finishes for Dibond sheets?
Our favorite is the brushed aluminum sheets and brushed aluminum sheeting. This is a great way to produce modern metal signs for your office or business. If you are printing on Dibond then we recommend white aluminum sheeting so the color will pop and not get washed out in the brushed aluminum Dibond.
What if I just want Dibond sign blanks?
If you just want Dibond sign blanks or large sheets of blank Dibond, we can help you with that.
